Help Shape the Future of Chester: Join the Town Center Exploration Process

Imagine a place in Chester where neighbors gather, children play, music fills the air, local artists showcase their talents, and community celebrations bring us together year-round. That vision is the foundation of the Chester Town Center initiative—and we invite you to help shape it.

The Town Center is being explored as a community destination focused on advancing health, education, culture, recreation, and economic vitality. Potential features include educational programs, concerts, sports activities, festivals, craft fairs, children's events, cultural performances, public art, and other opportunities that reflect the unique character of our community.

For more than a decade, community leaders, businesses, residents, and organizations throughout the Lake Almanor Basin have discussed ways to enhance Chester through beautification, economic development, recreation, and destination marketing. Through that work, one idea consistently emerged: creating a welcoming public gathering space where residents and visitors can connect, shop, dine, celebrate, and enjoy community life.

Today, we have an opportunity to explore that vision through a proposed public-private partnership centered at Chester Park.

Why start with Chester Park?

Chester Park offers many advantages as a potential Town Center location:

  • Central Location: Situated at one of Chester's most visible intersections near businesses, restaurants, public offices, the library, banks, and the post office.

  • Easy Access: Located along Highway 36 and served by transit routes connecting Plumas and Lassen Counties.

  • Room to Grow: Nearly five acres of space for facilities, outdoor gathering areas, parking, and future improvements.

  • Connected to Recreation: Adjacent to the Collins Pine Trail, Truman Collins Sports Complex, and Almanor Recreation facilities, creating opportunities for festivals, tournaments, concerts, markets, and community events.

Your Voice Matters

No decisions have been made. This is an opportunity to explore possibilities together and gather community input about what a Town Center could become.

We want to hear from residents, businesses, community organizations, youth, seniors, visitors, and anyone who cares about the future of Chester.

What activities would you like to see?
What amenities are important to you?
How can this space best serve our community for generations to come?

Join us as we explore the possibilities, share ideas, ask questions, and help create a vision that reflects the values and aspirations of the Chester and Lake Almanor communities.

Together, we can imagine what is possible and determine whether a Town Center is right for our community.

We invite you to be part of the conversation.
