The 4th of July Fireworks show over Lake Almanor is a 25+ year tradition. The show is shot from a barge off of the tip of the Peninsula and brings a spectacular end to a day of celebrations. The show begins after sunset and is best seen in a boat near the Peninsula or from the west shore of the lake. There are many, more distant, viewing spots along the East Shore.
We appreciate your generous donations to keep this wonderful tradition alive year after year.
If you'd like to donate, please click here.
The Almanor Recreation and Park District’s 41st annual Chester 4th of July Fun Run will take place at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 4, 2022. The one mile run/walk will start on the Collins Pine lawn and proceed down Chester’s historic Main Street to the finish at the Bidwell House.
Participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt and enjoy refreshments at the finish line. After the event, there will be a 4th of July Craft Fair at Chester Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and a 4th of July Parade starting at 11 a.m. on Main Street. The Craft Fair is sponsored by the Chester Elks and the Parade is sponsored by the Lake Almanor Area Chamber of Commerce.
Registration is open now at www.chesterfunrun.com. All proceeds benefit District programs and events, as well as capital improvement projects, with an emphasis on recreation, parks and trails. Participants are encouraged to sign up now, as prices will increase on June 17th. For more information about the Almanor Recreation and Park District, visit www.yourarpd.org or call (530) 258-2562.
The Lake Almanor Area Chamber Board of Directors would like to dedicate the 2022 4th of July Parade to the first responders who worked tirelessly during the 2021 Dixie Fire. On behalf of our communities, we thank you!
Your Chamber Board unanimously approved "Heroes Among Us" for the theme of the 2022 4th of July Parade. There's no question that our community has persevered through difficult times this last year. Namely, Dixie Fire evacuations and the loss of homes and businesses in Greenville, Canyon Dam, Warner Valley, along the 36 & 70, and the West Shore. But through it all, we have grown stronger and more resilient.
It's YOU, the everyday hero...the hero among us, making a difference in this community.
To the first responder who risked their life for our communities.
To the logger who helped the firefighters create a line.
To the restaurateur who stayed open as long as possible to feed those working the fire.
To the store owners who remained open to provide essential needs.
To the lodge owner who housed the workers and made sure their rooms were cleaned.
To the volunteer who helped evacuees at shelters.
To the parent who kept their child distracted and calm for weeks.
To the Good Samaritan who housed evacuees free of charge.
To the volunteer who searched for lost animals and provided a safe place for them.
To the generous donor who purchased gas cards for evacuees.
To the charitable and non-profit organizations who paid for evacuees essentials.
To the team who acquired funding for relief, recovery and rebuilding efforts.
To the social media admins who provided around the clock information.
To the medical professional who cared for those unable to care for themselves.
This parade's for you.
