Join our community on Oct. 1st for Plumas Pines Resort’s Annual Rib Cook-Off sponsored by The Almanor Foundation.

Funds raised from this year’s event support the building of Seneca Healthcare District’s new state-of-the-art facility.

Time to show off your scarecrow making skills!
Businesses from all over the Lake Almanor Basin create and display scarecrows to enter into the Lake Almanor Area Chamber Scarecrow Contest. The winner gets a trophy, recognition on social media/website and bragging rights. Please display your scarecrow outside your business by September 31st to be entered into the voting. Voting will begin November 1st on Facebook or in person at the Lake Almanor Chamber dropbox inside B&B Booksellers. Voting will end November 14th. 

We also would like to invite businesses that do not have a Main Street or storefront location to participate. Contact Chelssa for more information at 530-258-6323. 

Fees from the competition go to prizes for the Merchants Trick-or-Treat Costume Contest! 

Everyone is welcome to participate! If you do not have a business or storefront and wish to participate to support the youth or this community please contact us and we will find accommodations for your scarecrow.

Scarecrows will be judged on Facebook by members of the community! Judging closes at midnight October 31st. 

The winner will get an award recognizing community participation and spirit, a  photo will be taken and posted to various social media accounts and more.

Located in Lake Almanor is a very casual "paint and sip" series called SIPS & STONES!  Come join us on the patio of our landscape materials yard for some rock painting and wine sipping.  May's theme is "Pumpkins and Jack-o-Lanterns", but of course you can paint anything you want to on your rock.  We provide rocks, paint, snacks, and drinks.  We usually have some local vendors with "pop up" booths as well.  Wine, painting, and shopping?  YES PLEASE!

Almanor Recreation and Park District (ARPD)
 ARPD’s Board of Directors meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6 PM, except in December. When held at the ARPD office (102 Meadowbrook Loop, Chester, CA 96020), they are public meetings at reduced capacity. When meetings are not held at the office, ZOOM Video meetings are held instead. Your local Lake Almanor Elks Lodge is trying something new. It’s called Diner Night at the Elks Lodge a throwback to simpler times. This is a great place to take the whole family to dinner. Our menu is evolving but for now we offer your choice of hamburger, cheeseburger or hot dog, French fries, and Cole Slaw. Price is just $10 which includes tax. We will be offering beer and wine for our guests over the age of 21. Doors open at 5 p.m. Dinner service starts at 5:30pm.

Please join us on the 4th Monday of every month for our Community Town Hall. This is your opportunity to be informed, ask questions, and get involved. Town Halls will be held at the Mt. Lassen Theatre from 5:15pm-6:00pm in the 2022 months of September, October and November. We will not meet in December. Facebook Live will be available at all meetings, but Zoom will not.

Dress it up for a Costume Contest during Merchant's Safe Trick or Treat down Main Street! Location will be Petersen's Place in Old Town at 139 Main Street, time for judging to be announced.  Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place: Come on out and have some fun!

Merchants Safe Trick or Treat down Main Street Chester is a Halloween tradition. Merchants up and down the street happily open their doors to children of all ages to share in the fun. Safe crossing of streets is provided by the Interact Club at Chester High School. Merchants open their doors from 3 - 5 pm.
